Medical education

You may be asked if a medical student or trainee doctor can be present during your consultation with the doctor or nurse.

If you can help in this way, the students are very grateful, however if you are uncomfortable in the presence of a student, please say so.

Speciality Trainee Year 3 Doctors

ST3 doctors are fully qualified doctors with at least 4 years of hospital and GP experience. They are in their final 12 months before becoming fully qualified GPs.

Speciality Trainee Year 2 Doctors

ST2 doctors are fully qualified doctors with at least 3 years of hospital experience.

Foundation Year 2 Doctors

FY2 doctors are fully qualified doctors with 1-2 years of hospital experience. All doctors in their 2nd year after qualification have to spend 4 months in General Practice. The FY2 doctor is always supervised by one of the GPs.

Medical students

These are students still studying at University, they will take a history of your problems and then you will be seen by one of our fully qualified doctors.
